Louisiana Passport Article Submission Guidelines

Effective Date: August 4, 2026

Louisiana Passport welcomes article submissions from historians, writers, photographers, travelers, chefs, musicians, educators, and others who share our passion for Louisiana. Our goal is to publish informative, engaging, and well-researched content that reflects the history, culture, food, music, travel, and people of the Bayou State.

Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. All submissions are subject to editorial review and must meet the standards outlined below.

Submission Requirements

To be considered for publication, submitted articles must:

  • Be original, unpublished work or submitted with written permission from the copyright owner.

  • Be accurate, fact-based, and supported by reliable sources when appropriate.

  • Be free of plagiarism, copyright infringement, and defamatory content.

  • Relate to Louisiana history, culture, food, music, travel, wildlife, festivals, people, or other topics consistent with the mission of Louisiana Passport.

  • Be written in clear, professional English and suitable for a general audience.

  • Include citations or source information for historical facts, quotations, statistics, and other factual claims when requested by the editors.

Editorial Review

Every submission is reviewed by the Louisiana Passport editorial team. During the review process, we may evaluate:

  • Accuracy and factual reliability.

  • Writing quality and readability.

  • Relevance to our audience.

  • Originality.

  • Compliance with our Publication Standards.

Louisiana Passport reserves the sole discretion to accept, reject, or request revisions to any submission.

Editorial Rights

By submitting an article, you acknowledge and agree that Louisiana Passport has the right to:

  • Edit for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, clarity, formatting, and readability.

  • Revise titles, headings, captions, and summaries.

  • Rearrange or shorten content to meet editorial standards.

  • Correct factual errors or request supporting documentation.

  • Add citations, links, images, graphics, or editor's notes.

  • Decline publication at any stage of the editorial process.

  • Remove published content or update it at any time if necessary to maintain accuracy, legal compliance, or editorial quality.

Substantive edits that significantly change the meaning or intent of an article may be returned to the author for review at the editor's discretion. However, Louisiana Passport is not obligated to obtain author approval for routine editorial changes.

Author Representations

By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the author of the submission or have the legal right to submit it.

  • The submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.

  • The information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  • Any quotations, photographs, or other third-party materials are used with appropriate permission or under applicable law.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Louisiana Passport from claims arising from your submitted content.

Publication Rights

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, submission of an article grants Louisiana Passport a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and display the content on its website, social media channels, newsletters, and other promotional materials.

Authors retain copyright to their original work unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise.

Compensation

Unless specifically agreed to in writing before publication, article submissions are considered voluntary contributions and will not receive financial compensation.

Artificial Intelligence

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all submitted material, regardless of whether artificial intelligence tools were used during drafting or editing. Any use of AI must not result in fabricated facts, misleading information, plagiarism, or copyright violations.

Right to Refuse or Remove Content

Louisiana Passport reserves the right to refuse, edit, suspend, unpublish, or remove any submission at any time and for any lawful reason, including content that:

  • Contains factual inaccuracies.

  • Violates copyright or other intellectual property rights.

  • Is misleading, offensive, defamatory, or unlawful.

  • Does not align with the mission or editorial standards of Louisiana Passport.

  • Creates legal or ethical concerns.
